Noema launches on September 19, 2025. Our first release brings local AI to Apple devices, including iPhone, iPad, Mac and Vision Pro, with on-device processing, model management and performance tuned for Apple silicon.
Updated October 2026. Native macOS and visionOS apps arrived later, with Noema 2.0 in March 2026.
Privacy-first AI
Unlike cloud-based assistants that require your data to leave your device, Noema runs models on your own hardware, so your conversations, documents and personal information stay under your control.
Privacy is not a feature we added later; it is the foundation of everything we have built. Noema lets you explore what AI can do without handing over your data.
Features at launch
- Model support: GGUF, MLX, ET (ExecuTorch), CML (Core ML) and Apple Foundation Models.
- Model management: download, organize and switch between models based on your needs.
- Performance: GPU acceleration for faster inference.
- Chat interface: a clean, responsive design.
- Documents: upload and analyze documents within the app.
- Web search: look up current information with privacy controls.
Engineering for the device
Running language models well on a phone takes careful engineering. We spent months designing RAM safety systems, refining memory management and tuning inference speed so models run well while the device stays stable. Highlights include:
- Memory-efficient model loading that stays stable on devices with as little as 2GB of RAM.
- Detailed controls for quantization, context length and more.
- Background processing that does not interfere with other apps.
- Caching that shortens model loading times.
Looking ahead
This first release is a beginning. Our roadmap includes cloud MCP support, Apple Intelligence integration and more; What's next for Noema has the details. We also want Noema to keep pace with the open AI community, supporting new research and model releases as they appear.
Availability
Noema became available on the App Store on September 19, 2025.
Updated October 2026. This section originally said the app would be completely free at launch and invited readers to join thousands of early adopters. We could not support either statement, so we removed them. Every feature has been free since October 2025.
