Noema Search is the private search service built into the Noema app. Web search and Deep Research use it with no setup, and you can use it directly in any browser without an account.

Noema Search works with no provider setup. You can bring your own Brave, Tavily, Exa or custom search service instead. The source reader does not run page JavaScript or read image-only scans.
Deep Research
Review a plan, then get a cited report.
Deep Research plans a question as steps, searches each one and writes a report with numbered citations. You can turn a finished report into flashcards or an audio overview.
- Enter a focused question and generate a plan.
- Review and edit its sub-questions. Drafting a plan does not start any searches.
- Choose Start Research. Sources stay numbered across the whole run.
- Open the report's citations to inspect the original sources.
Before you begin
The chat model you load writes the plan, notes and report. Deep Research needs a network connection and is unavailable in Beginner mode or with Off-Grid Mode on. Sources support inspection; a model can still misread or overstate them.

Primary sources

Give Noema a topic, paper title, arXiv link or public PDF URL. It can move from discovery to page-level evidence, and a follow-up question returns to the same source instead of starting over.

Private by design
Search without leaving a profile behind.
Noema Search is a dedicated SearXNG instance maintained for the Noema community. It combines open metasearch indexes and keeps your browser and device separate from the services that provide results.
No identity layer
Noema Search does not require an account, issue a tracking token or attach a persistent identifier to a query.
No retained search trail
Search queries, visited URLs and extracted page text are not persisted on Noema Search infrastructure.
Short-lived processing
Documents are processed temporarily and cached only in memory for a short period.
What the app sends. The search service receives the generated query, locale and search controls. Reading a source can also send candidate URLs, snippets and open or find parameters to Noema's source reader. Off-Grid Mode blocks web search.
