At Noema, your privacy is absolute. We are committed to a zero-data-collection approach where everything happens locally on your device. This Privacy Policy explains our approach to complete data privacy and the limited circumstances where internet access may be required.
Noema collects absolutely no data whatsoever. We do not collect, store, or transmit any personal information, usage data, analytics, or any other form of data from your use of the application.
Everything you do within Noema happens entirely on your device. Your conversations, documents, preferences, and all other data remain completely private and local to your device.
Nothing you do in the app can be seen by Noema developers, Apple, or any third party at any time. We have no access to your data because it never leaves your device.
To provide the free tier functionality, the app maintains a small usage record on your device only. This record consists of recent search timestamps and minimal auxiliary values strictly needed to calculate when you can search again. This data is stored in Apple's Keychain (This Device Only) and mirrored to a small file in the app's container for reliability. These records do not leave your device, are not sent to our servers, and are not shared with third parties. Entries automatically expire after they fall outside the rolling twenty-four-hour window. Because Keychain can persist across reinstalls on the same device, uninstalling the app may not immediately reset this local usage record.
We use the Brave Search API to fetch web results. When you run a web search in the app, we send only the query text (and routine technical parameters like language) to Brave Search in order to return results. We do not attach your name, email, advertising IDs, or our own user identifiers to these requests.
Today, requests are routed through our server-side relay to protect our API key and apply quota; Brave sees the relay's IP, not yours. We do not keep server logs of your queries beyond transient processing needed to fulfill the request.
We selected Brave because of its privacy stance and independent index. Before integrating, we reviewed Brave's published privacy materials. Brave states that Brave Search is private by default and does not collect personal information about you, your device, or your searches; it does not transmit information that could be used to profile or track you. For the API specifically, Brave discloses that a record of queries made via an API account may be retained for up to 90 days for billing and troubleshooting; this retention applies to the API customer (us), not to end-user profiling. We also considered Brave's independence from "Big Tech" indexes as an additional privacy benefit (fewer third-party hops for results).
Your query leaves your device solely to reach Brave Search (via our relay as described above). The daily free-tier limit and subscription entitlement checks described elsewhere are handled on device and do not add any extra sharing of your data with Brave. If we ever change providers or move additional processing server-side, we will update this section of the policy to reflect the change and our reasons for it.
Noema offers optional in-app subscriptions that remove or increase daily search limits for users who wish to access enhanced functionality.
If you purchase a subscription, payment processing is handled entirely by Apple. We do not receive your full payment details. The app verifies your active entitlement on device and unlocks features accordingly. We retain only the minimal information necessary to reflect whether your subscription is active. You can manage or cancel your subscription in your Apple account settings, and you can restore purchases within the app.
We process subscription entitlement data solely to provide the paid service you request and operate the app reliably.
Noema does not use any tracking technologies, cookies, analytics, or telemetry. There are no third-party services integrated into the app that could compromise your privacy.
Local usage data are automatically pruned after twenty-four hours. Subscription entitlement information is retained only while your subscription remains active. If the app offers a "Reset usage data" option, you may use it to clear the local record; otherwise, you can contact us for assistance.
We process on-device usage records solely to deliver the free-tier functionality you request and to operate the app reliably.
Since we do not collect any data, there is no data to share, sell, or disclose to anyone under any circumstances. Your information remains entirely under your control.
Any changes to this Privacy Policy will be clearly communicated. However, our core commitment to zero data collection will never change. We may update this policy if features change or if we introduce server-side processing in the future. Any material changes will be reflected here.
