From Brave Search to Our Own SearxNG Relay
Achieving a truly free experience required rethinking how Noema delivers web results. We have migrated away from the Brave Search API and now operate our own private SearxNG metasearch cluster. This infrastructure is hosted and maintained by the Noema team, giving us full control over costs, performance, and privacy guarantees.
SearxNG aggregates results across multiple public search providers, but every query is proxied through Noema-managed servers. We run the instance without logs or third-party trackers, so your requests are never stored and cannot be tied back to your identity. By self-hosting, we eliminated per-query fees and unlocked the ability to offer unlimited search to everyone.
What This Means for Your Privacy
Privacy is the foundation of everything we build. With our SearxNG deployment, your searches remain anonymous, are encrypted in transit, and are wiped from memory immediately after fulfillment. Noema does not create accounts, gather identifiable analytics, or store personal data on our infrastructure. The combination of on-device inference and a no-log search relay keeps your research safe by default.
We also updated our privacy documentation to detail the new architecture and ensure our policies match the infrastructure we run. Transparency is non-negotiable—we want every user to understand how their data is handled at every step.
All Features, No Restrictions
With the move to free, every optimization we have built ships to all users. FlashAttention acceleration, KV cache quantization, benchmark tooling, custom remote endpoints, document ingestion, and workflow automation are all included.
